- backpack
- lightweight tent
- lightweight sleeping bag (unfortunately, I have all manner of various sleeping bags, but none of them are lightweight enough for a long distance backpacking excursion)
- backpacking stove
- backpacking cook set (it's so cute!)
- water purifier
- 2 or 3 pairs gortex pants
- lightweight gortex jacket
- telescoping hiking poles
- bear bag
- waterproof backpack cover
- hiking boots (I have a pair, and I love them dearly, however I feel that they might soon bite the dust, so to speak)
- Topo Maps
- cotton/hiking socks (might as well start the adventure with clean socks, right?)
- headlamp (same sad story as my boots)
- shovel
- first aid kit
- under armour and/or long johns (for those chilly nights!)
- gloves
- lightweight, quality digital camera, preferably the kind that takes real batteries
Every hike is a journey, but sometimes it can be a journey getting to the hike, too! This is my journey to eventually following my dream, and thru-hiking as many trails as I possibly can!
My Trail Wish List
Before I go on any long-distance backpacking trips, I should probably invest in (or get someone to invest in for me) the following essential trail-gear. (Items in bold are what I already have, but felt like putting on the list anyway). Another good name for this would be "What to get Sara for Christmas," if you were curious (*cough cough*)
